Our mission at Lāʻau Aloha is to help us re-connect with the ʻāina, our powerful plant friends, our selves, and wellness. Lāʻau means plant as well as medicine. When we aloha the earth and plants, we aloha ourselves. We receive a spiritual lāʻau from the plants and ʻāina after giving our sweat and aloha to a space. We also find physical lāʻau, medicines, in many plants. Plants each have special healing abilities, just as we all have our own unique super powers to help our communities. By recognizing and acknowledging the super powers in each healing plant, we can acknowledge a super healing power within ourselves. We can heal in more that one way through the guidance of plants. OLA!

Who we are...

Aloha! ʻO Stephanie a me Pūnua kēia.

We are a mother daughter team sharing our passion for lāʻau (plant/medicine). We share the superpowers of lāʻau through handcrafted Naupaka skin care products and offer workshops to community members, keiki, and ʻōpio. Based in Keaukaha on Hawaiʻi Island, Lāʻau Aloha would like to serve as a bridge between traditional practices and modern healing.

Stephanie, ka māmā

Stephanie is a plant-loving educator, māmā, and lāʻau advocate dedicated to helping others reconnect with the ʻāina and the healing wisdom of plants. Her lineage to lāʻau practices traces back to a Mexican kūpuna, a curandero (healer), inspiring her to continue learning and integrating ancestral knowledge into her work.

Stephanie’s expertise in lāʻau stems from a rich tapestry of learning, including studying with Hālau ʻŌhiʻa under Kekuhi Kealiikanakaoleohaililani, Hoʻoponopono Ke Ala under Aunty Māhealani Kuamoʻo-Henry, and lāʻau lapaʻau community classes led by Christa Savio, a student of Kumu Levon Ohai. She compliments this with her own research in lāʻau lapaʻau and curanderismo studies through the University of New Mexico and Milagro School of Herbal Medicine.

Pūnua, ke kaikamahine

Pūnua calls herslef the brains behind the operation. Haha. She is our Logo Designer/Social Media manager/ photographer/videographer...Boss lady (according to her).

Pūnua is fabulous at sales and marketing and brings her fun loving spirit to all the markets she attends.

Pūnua LOVES paddling and has put to test each iteration of our sunscreen with a very critical eye. She is suuuper picky about her sunscreens and skin care products and puts each new product to the test with extremely constructive criticism. This is why our products are loved be so many. They had to pass her test first!
